Atiku meets IBB behind closed-door in Minna
Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar arrived Minna, Niger State and held a closed-door meeting with former Military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, IBB, at his Hilltop residence.
Atiku who was 2019 Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) arrived at the Minna Airport at 1:23 pm Monday and was received by former Governor of Niger State, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu and led in a convoy to the residence of the former Military President.
As at press time, the meeting was still on and the reason for the visit was still unknown.
Among Atiku’s entourage was one of his wives and Senator Abdul Ningi.
Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has added his voice to that of other well meaning Nigerians calling for a reform of the Nigerian Police Force which according to him is now working in contrast with the needs and aspirations of Nigerians.
Atiku Abubarkar in an interview with journalists said Nigerian Police which by its mandate is amongst others; expected to protect law abiding Nigerians are now turning their frustrations on innocent Nigerians they are paid to protect.
“The Police no longer operate based on its mandate of securing the country and its citizens. It is very unfortunate that men and officers of the Nigerian Police Force trained to protect Nigerians have now turned their guns against unarmed citizens”.
Atiku said he had earlier issued a press statement to express his position on the call for the banning of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), for going against its operational guideline, adding that the eventual banning of the unit by IGP Mohammed Adamu is in order.
