Appeal Court restores Sunday Bisi as Osun PDP chairman
The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, Ondo State, on Friday, has restored Hon Sunday Bisi as Osun State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The court set aside an order of Osun State High Court in Ikirun, reinstating Soji Adagunodo as the Chairman, thereby affirming the position of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), on Hon. Sunday Bisi as the State Chairman.
Recall that, on November 3, 2020, a High Court in Ikirun, Osun State, had restrained Hon. Sunday Bisi from acting as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state.
The presiding judge, Justice Jide Falola, granted all the seven ex-parte motion of the plaintiff, Soji Adagunodo in the interim till the next hearing date.
Adagunodo represented by his counsel, Edmond Biriomoni had dragged the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon Sunday Bisi, Hon Sunday Akanfe Atidade and Bola Ajao to court on the announcement of the 2nd respondent to lead the party in Osun in Acting capacity.
In reacting, Mr. Sunday Bisi has enjoined residents of Osun State to set aside all differences and rise in unison to rescue the state from the brinks of insolvency.
Mr. Bisi made the call while reacting to the judgement of the appeal court sitting in Akure which affirmed him as chairman of the party in Osun State.
The Osun PDP chairman called on leaders and members of the party in particular to see the Appeal Court’s judgement as a challenge to all in the party to live up to the expectation of the electorate as that is the only hope of returning succour and sanity to the state.
Mr. Bisi also promised to double his efforts in reconciling all interests in the party for the sake of lasting peace and tranquillity.
Meanwhile, the party has hailed the judgment of the Appeal Court sitting in Akure, Ondo State, restoring Hon. Subday Bisi as the party chairman in Osun State, describing the judgement as “another affirmation of supremacy of the party over and above anyone, no matter how highly placed.”

Reacting to the judgment, the South-West PDP Zonal Director of Media and Publicity, Lere Olayinka, congratulated Hon. Sunday Bisi and the entire members and supporters of the party in Osun State.
The South-West PDP called on all leaders of the party in Osun State to shelve their personal interests and join hands with the Hon Sunday Bisi led State Working Committee to move the party forward.
The statement read: “This judgement has put to rest all agitations as to who the chairman of our party is in Osun State.
“It is also a lesson for those who, because of the position they are occupying, see themselves as superior to the party.
“Going forward, all members of the PDP in the South-West are enjoined to respect decisions of the party’s National Working Committee at all times and those using their positions to promote factions in the zone by relating with impostors as State Chairmen should stop.
“Once again, to our party stakeholders in Osun State, it is now time for consolidation. Congratulations to the PDP family.”
