Appeal Court Judgement: Join Fayose to build viable opposition in Ekiti – Group tells Olujimi
Adeola, who described a political party as a family which cannot function without a patriarchy, said Fayose has paid his dues in PDP to take the leadership position of PDP in Ekiti and Nigeria as a whole.
Following the Appeal Court dismissed the suit filed by the caucus loyal to Senator Biodun Olujimi over the inauguration of the Ward Executive Committee members of the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, in Ekiti State, the Ekiti Grassroots Movement (EGM), has appealed to the Senator’s group to work with other group as a family member to produce the next governor of State in 2022.
The group called Senator Olujimi and others in the party to work in tandem with the former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose to restructure the party ahead 2022 general election.
Newsflash247 had earlier reported that the Appeal Court sitting in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, January 27, had dismissed the suit filed by the caucus loyal to Senator Biodun Olujimi over the inauguration of the Ward Executive Committee members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ekiti State.
Delivering judgment in the Appeal Number CA/EK/57/2020, the Appeal court upheld the decision of the trial Court and resolved all issues against the Appellant, Oladimeji Samson Olalekan.
The Party had inaugurated of the Ward Executive Committee members on April 30 in the state.
Newsflash247 gathered that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party had in a letter with ref no: PDP/DOM/GF.V/VOL.2/20-387B dated April 25, 2020 and signed by Col Austin Akobundu (rtd), National Organizing Secretary, ordered the state chairman of the party to inaugurate the 155 ward EXCO for the fourteen out of the sixteen local government areas of the State, where the remaining two local government areas contained 22 wards are yet to conduct their Congresses.
Reacting to the Appeal Court Judgement that was delivered on the party’s Congress in favour of Fayose’s group on Wednesday, the Director of Media and Publicity Secretary of the Ekiti Grassroots Movement (EGM), Adebisi Adeola said what is expected from all party leaders is to put premium on genuine reconciliation and how to take its rightful leadership position in 2022.
“Without mincing word, the APC has failed in its responsibilities to deliver good governance to Ekiti people.
“Though intra-party conflict is inevitable in political democratisation of Nigeria, the players must find solace in unity to winning elections against all interests.”
Adeola, who described a political party as a family which cannot function without a patriarchy, said Fayose has paid his dues in PDP to take the leadership position of PDP in Ekiti and Nigeria as a whole.
“Apart from being an Executive Governor under PDP for two-term in the state, Fayose’s legacies in Ekiti in terms of infrastructural development, inclusive government and People’s oriented programmes while serving Ekiti cannot be underestimated”.
Calling on distinguished Senator Olujimi and other leaders of the party to work in tandem with Fayose to produce the next governor of Ekiti State in 2022, Adeola said nobody can live in isolation.
“Winning elections should be a major focus now.
“Ekiti is predominantly PDP state. With the level of insecurity and poor Infrastructural development under the APC, the PDP should maximise the opportunity to provide a virile platform that will embrace all interests”.
He appealed to the former governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose to embrace all aggrieved party leaders and allow a level playing ground in the administration of the party, saying only inclusiveness can guarantee the party’s victory in 2022.
He said the Appeal Court Judgement should be seen by both factions as No Victor, no vanguised.
