APC Warns Wike Against Using FCT Ministry To Pursue Presidential Ambition
The North Central Forum of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has cautioned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, not to use his office to advance his presidential aspiration in 2027. The Forum alleged that the former Rivers State Governor is still loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and is undermining the APC’s interests in various ways.
The Chairman of the Forum, Saleh Zazzaga, made this statement in Jos, the Plateau State capital, after an emergency meeting to review the election tribunal judgement in the state. Zazzaga said that Wike is playing a double game by being a member of the APC by appointment and a supporter of the PDP by affiliation.
He said that Wike is backing the PDP in many of their activities, especially in the post-election cases in court. He challenged Wike to declare his true allegiance and warned that the Forum will not hesitate to take legal action against him if he continues to act against the APC’s interest.
He said, “We have reports that Wike is still siding with the PDP in many of their activities, especially in the post-election cases in court. He should come out clean and declare his true loyalty, otherwise, we will not hesitate to take legal action against him if he continues to sabotage the APC’s interest.
“He is a Lawyer by profession and someone who has fought many political-legal battles in Rivers State. He should be seen to be supporting and strategising for victory for the APC candidates in court, at least in the North-Central Region, under which the FCT falls.”
Zazzaga also advised Wike to be careful in his FCT administration policies, such as demolition, land revocation and others, that may have negative consequences for the people of the region. He said that the region is already facing many challenges, such as security, and they do not want anything to worsen the situation.
He called on all APC leaders, supporters and members to support their candidates pursuing legal post-election matters in court. He also urged Nigerians to support Tinubu, Secretary to Government of the Federation, George Akume, all the ministers and those holding appointive positions so that they can deliver good governance and development to the nation.
