APC lawmaker, thousands of followers defect to PDP
Theophilus Ugboaja, a member of the Abia State House of Assembly representing Ikwuano Constituency, on Monday led thousands of his supporters to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
Ugboaja was one of those that decamped from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a recent rally of the party in Umuahia, the state capital.
But according to him, he had reviewed that decision and decided to stand with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
He said the governor was delivering verifiable dividends of democracy in the state.
On Monday, Ugboaja was formally received to the party by Governor Ikpeazu and PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus, who is on a visit to Abia.
The ceremony held at the PDP secretariat in Umuahia on the sideline of the flagg-off of project inspection by members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) from Abuja.
In his remarks, Ikpeazu informed Ugboaja that his privileges had been restored with immediate effect.
“You’re so lucky that you are returning in the presence of our national chairman receiving you in this circumstance; you’re automatically given all the full privileges.
“We have restored your rights and privileges. All the people who started this party are here”, Ikpeazu stated.
