Anti-corruption agency arrest Council Boss for abuse of COVID-19 Palliatives
The Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission in Kano State on Saturday has the arrested the Chairman of the Kumbotso Local Government Council, Alhaji Kabiru Ado Panshekara, over abuse of COVID-19 palliatives.
According to the Chairman of the agency, Muhuyi Magaji Rimigado, who confirmed the arrest of the Council Boss.
Briefing reporters in Kano over the development, Mr. Magaji Gado said Alhaji Kabiru Ado Panshekara allegedly contravened the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-corruption Commission Law 2008 (as amended) in the distribution of palliative materials in his Local Government.
He said the Kumbotso Local Government Chairman was alleged to have distributed palliative materials to security personnel comprising the Police, DSS, Immigration etc as well as Hisbah personnel.
The anti graft boss said the act contravenes the provision of Section 22, 23 and 26 of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission Law 2008 (as amended).
Mr Rimi Gado stressed that ‘based on the above development, the Commission in accordance with Section 15(3) of its enabling Law request for your usual support to arrest and forward to this Commission the Kumbotso Local Government Chairman as soon as practically possible, ‘’said the Chairman.
