Angry mob set three robbers ablaze as bank robbery fails in Oyo

Three members of a gang who attempted to rob a branch of First Bank in Okeho, Oyo State were on Wednesday set ablaze by an angry mob.

The police spokesperson in the state, SP Gbenga Fadeyi, said the robbers were repelled by armed policemen who were deployed to counter them.
According to him, the armed robbers were conveyed in an 18-seater bus to the bank. He added that as soon as their attempt to rob the bank failed, they took to their heels but were pursued by policemen, local hunters and other concerned individuals.
Speeding under pressure, Fadeyi, said their bus somersaulted, adding that that a mob then swooped on them and set three of them ablaze.
He described the incident as a failed robbery attempt, promising to give more details when more facts are gathered.

But sources in the area said the robbers were ambushed and set ablaze by local hunters.
Fadeyi said police are on the trail of the other members of the gang who escaped.
