#AnambraDecides: Twitter Users Slam Tony Nwoye Over Poor Debate Performance
Nigerians on Twitter have criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Anambra State gubernatorial election, Tony Nwoye, for his perceived poor performance during the Anambra State governorship debate, organized by Channels Television.
The debate featured candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Progressive Peoples Alliance (PPA), and United Progressive Party (UPP) ahead of the November 18 gubernatorial contest.
Many Nigerians on Twitter were dissatisfied with Mr. Nwoye’s performance, describing his appearance and responses to questions as shabby.
Demola Olarewaju, who tweets with the Twitter handle @DemolaRewaju, said, “Tony Nwoye isn’t looking sharp in dressing and not much sharper in responses either. He was PDP’s candidate four years ago and now APC’s candidate. The Worst of our Past is the Best of Their Future.”
Another user, @TheManSquash, described the APC candidate as the worst contender in the race. “#AnambraDebates Tony Nwoye is the worst contender in this upcoming Anambra election. Shame on Apc. Of all people to present to ndi Anambra is Tony Nwoye,” he said.
Another Twitter user with the handle @pokahunter joked that Mr. Nwoye and Godwin Ezeemo, the PPA candidate, should write the Kaduna State teachers’ test, and “if they refuse, dash them to Imo State.”
Nnamdi Mbonu, @presidentnm, concluded that Mr. Nwoye could only win the election if it is rigged by the APC. “From the calibre of discuss going on in this debate and the intellect shown by other candidates, if Tony Nwoye wins this election, @APCNigeria rigged it period!” he said.
