The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cleared six aspirants and disqualified one ahead of the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State.
Chairman of the screening committee and ex-minister of Police Affairs, Adamu Maina Waziri said the committee was fair and just.
Presenting the certificates of clearance to the aspirants in Abuja, Waziri said a former minister of aviation, Stella Oduah, Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, Prince John Okechukwu Emeka and Lynda Chuba Ikpeazu were cleared.
He said Ifeanyi Patrick Ubah “barely got cleared but is as good as any other aspirant”, while Oseloka Henry Obaze was conditionally cleared and awaiting a waiver from the party.
Akolisa Ufodike was disqualified from the contest on grounds of dual citizenship.
Waziri explained that Ufodike was disqualified because he was a Canadian citizen but a Nigerian by birth.
“Any aspirant who is not satisfied with the decisions of the screening panel has the right to appeal,” Waziri said.
