Abducted Ekiti Catholic priest Micheal Olofinlade regains freedom
The Ekiti State Catholic priest, Rev Father Micheal Olofinlade, who was abducted on Saturday by unknown gunmen, has regained his freedom.
Newsflash Nigeria learnt Rev Father Olofinlade regained freedom on Tuesday but details of his release were still sketchy at the time of this report.
The paramount ruler, Owajumu of Omu-Ekiti, Oba Adeyeye Ogundeyi, disclosed this to journalists on Tuesday in Omu-Ekiti.
Oba Ogundeyi said Father Olofinlade was sighted along Itapaji-Ekiti Road after his abductors released him.
He noted that the priest was currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Ekiti.
Recall that unknown gunmen had kidnapped the Catholic priest on Saturday in Itaji-Ekiti – Ijelu-Ekiti Ekiti road of Ekiti State.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening at around 6 pm.
Fr Olatinlade is the Parish Priest of St George Catholic Church, Omu Ekiti, in Oye Local Government Area in Ekiti State.
Newsflash Nigeria gathered that Fr Olofinlade went for a pastoral assignment outside the parish and was attacked by his vehicle while on his way back to the Parish.
The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Ekiti, Most Rev Felix Ajakaiye had solicited prayers for the quick and safe release of Fr Olofinlade.
However, the police did not make any statement regarding his release and whether a ransom was paid before he was released.
