Japanese Business Delegation Lauds Dangote Refinery as a Technological Marvel

Masahiro Tsuno, Managing Director of Itochu Nigeria Limited, has lauded the 650,000 barrels per day Dangote Refinery as a “world miracle.”

During a visit by a Japanese business delegation led by Japan’s Ambassador-designate to Nigeria, Suzuki Hideo, Tsuno expressed amazement at the refinery’s scale and automation, noting that such a facility, built by a single investor, is unprecedented globally.

Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Limited, highlighted the refinery’s recent exports of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) to countries including Cameroon, Ghana, Angola, and South Africa. He also mentioned that diesel has been distributed worldwide, and jet fuel is being heavily exported to European markets, indicating the international impact of their products.

The Dangote Refinery, located in Lagos, is the world’s largest single-train refinery, with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day. Its operations are anticipated to significantly influence the trading dynamics of refined products within the Atlantic basin.
