Niger State Controversy: School Summoned Over Student’s Viral Debate Video

In a recent development, the Niger State Government has taken swift action by summoning the class teacher and headmaster of Kassim Primary School in Agaie Local Government Area. The move comes in response to a viral video featuring a pupil, Abdulkabir Abdulkadir, using what is described as “vulgar language” during a debate.

Abdulkadir’s passionate argument against mandatory voting in Nigeria caught the attention of authorities as he voiced concerns about the current political landscape and criticized President Bola Tinubu, linking his presidency to hardships faced by the people.

Hadiza Mohammed, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education in Niger State, expressed strong disapproval of the choice of words used by the pupil. She characterized the video as “disturbing” and suggested that Abdulkadir may have been coached to employ violent and vulgar language in his presentation.

In response to the incident, the ministry has summoned the class teacher and headmaster for cautioning, emphasizing the importance of students refraining from using violent language, particularly given that the pupil is a minor.
