Nursing Mother Fears for Her Life After Erisco Tomato Boss Exposes Her Address Over Product Criticism
A nursing mother, Mrs. Chioma Edoka Okoli, who was recently arrested for saying there is too much sugar in Erisco Tomato, has cried out for help after her letter of apology showing her residential address was displayed on national television by the Erisco Tomato Boss, Chief Eric Umeofia.
According to her lawyer, Mr. Inibehe Effiong, Mrs. Okoli was coerced to write the letter under duress and oppression by the Erisco Foods Limited and the Nigeria Police Force.
He said that Chief Umeofia published the letter on national televisions and on social media without redacting the residential address of his client, thereby endangering her life and that of her family members.
He said that the publication of the address has subjected Mrs. Okoli and her family to mental torture, unimaginable fear and apprehension.
He also said that Chief Umeofia had made blatant threatening statements directed at Mrs. Okoli in the presence of policemen, including the head of the IGP Monitoring Unit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, 26th September, 2023.
He said that only one officer was bold enough to caution him to desist from further making such reckless threats in their presence.
He said that he was compelled to alert Nigerians about the overt acts of Erisco Foods Limited and its President/CEO, which have violated the fundamental rights of his client. He said that should any harm befall Mrs. Okoli or any member of her family, Erisco Foods Limited, its President and the Nigeria Police Force should be held responsible.
