Kemi Afolabi Opens Up About Her Traumatic Experience with Her Father

Popular Yoruba Nollywood actress, Kemi Afolabi, has shared a painful memory of how her father abandoned her at the hospital and went home to harass her mother.

The actress said that family is not by blood, and that there are wicked, jealous and heartless fathers.

Newsflash Nigeria reports that Kemi Afolabi made this revelation while reacting to the death of Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad. The singer died on September 19, 2023, after a brief illness, and was buried the same day by his father.

Many Nigerians had criticized the father for not giving his son a proper burial, and for not allowing his friends and fans to pay their last respects. The father defended his action, saying that his son was too young to be kept at the mortuary, and that he did what he thought was best for him.

In a post on Instagram, Kemi Afolabi sympathized with Mohbad’s father, and said that she understood what he was going through. She said that she had a similar experience with her own father, who left her to die at the hospital so that he could bully her mother at home.

The actress said that her father had always been abusive and violent towards her mother since she was a child. She said that she survived by the grace of God, and that it was not her time to die. She said that family is not by blood, and that some fathers are wicked, jealous and heartless. She wrote:

“Family is not by blood, my people hmmmmmmm That’s how my supposed father abandoned me at the hospital to die so that he can come around to bully my mother as he has always done since I was a child. But God said it wasn’t my time to die. There are wicked, jealous and heartless fathers, I can confirm. Story for another day. Justice for Mohbad.”
