Gunmen Kill Eight Soldiers, Policemen, NSCDC Personnel In Imo, Set Their Vehicles Ablaze
The Umualumaku community in Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State was thrown into panic on Tuesday morning as unknown gunmen attacked and killed eight security personnel. The victims included soldiers, police officers, and members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps.
Newsflash Nigeria gathered that the gunmen ambushed two security trucks carrying the joint security task force team and opened fire on them. They also set the vehicles on fire and fled the scene.
A video clip of the attack, obtained by Newsflash Nigeria, showed the charred remains of the security trucks and the bodies of some of the slain security officials.
A security guard, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Newsflash Nigeria that more security teams had been deployed to the area to track down the culprits and recover the corpses of their colleagues.
The spokesperson for the police in the state, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident but said he needed more time to get the full details of what happened.
The attack is the latest in a series of violent incidents that have rocked Imo State in recent months. The state has witnessed several attacks on security formations, government facilities, and political figures by unknown gunmen. The motive and identity of the attackers remain unclear.
