Armed Robbers Snatch Bags of Dollars from Northern Trader in Ogun
A northern trader was robbed of two bags containing dollar notes by a four-man gang of armed robbers on Friday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The robbery took place at the Oke-Sokori axis of the city, near Fatgbems filling station.
The robbers, who wore masks and carried rifles, ambushed the trader’s Toyota Venza car with registration number ABC 565 GN and forced him to open the boot.
They quickly transferred the two bags of money into their own car and sped off with the trader’s car key.
According to eyewitnesses, the trader had earlier gone to a commercial bank to deposit the money, but he was told that the bank had closed for the day. He was on his way to another bank when he was attacked by the robbers.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the robbery to Newsflash Nigeria and said the police were on the trail of the suspects.
He said the command had sent signals across the state to ensure that the robbers are tracked down and arrested.
