Gunmen Kidnap General Overseer At Church Premises, Demand N100 Million Ransom
Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted the General Overseer of the Solid Rock Kingdom Church, Apostle John Okoriko, in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
It was gathered that the cleric was abducted on Tuesday from his church premises located at Ibekwe Akpan Nya in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of the state.
An eyewitness said that the gunmen jumped the fence of the church compound and started firing into the air to scare off the victims.
The gunmen proceeded to drag the clergyman into a vehicle and drove him away.
The matter was reported to the police immediately who alongside some youths in the area combed the nearby bushes for any sign of the abductors.

He said: “Suspected gunmen came to the church premises after jumping through the wall and made their way to the sitting room, where they dragged the pastor away. They shot into the air to scare away their victims.
“The police were contacted almost immediately, and some of the police officers joined the youths in search of the missing pastor but to no avail.”
The kidnappers later reached out to the family of the victim, demanding a sum of N100m for his release.
The spokesman of the Akwa Ibom State police, Odiko Macedon, who confirmed the abduction said the command was looking into the situation.
“We have received the report and the Commissioner of police in the State, Andrew Amiengheme has ordered an investigation into the incident. As I speak a lot has been done already, I want to believe that we will get to the root of it in no distance time.”
