Ekiti 2022: Olusola-Eleka, Adaramodu, other PDP aspirants only contesting on social media – South-West APC spokesman, Karounwi
Ahead of the governorship election in Ekiti State, erstwhile Deputy Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Chief Karounwi Oladapo, has said the former Deputy Governor of the state, Professor Olusola Eleka, Ex-MD bank, Kayode Adaramodu, former House of Representatives member; Hon Adewale Aribisala and Otunba Yinka Akerele are only contesting on social media.
Karounwi, the Zonal Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South West geopolitical zone of the country said only three aspirants in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are the contenders while others are pretenders.
The APC spokesman said the preferred former governor Ayodele Fayose candidate, Otunba Bisi Kolawole, former governor of the state, Chief Segun Oni and the senator represents Ekiti South Senatorial district in the National Assembly, Biodun Olujimi are the only three aspirants are the contenders in the opposition party.
The former Special Adviser, Legislative and Allied Matters to Governor Kayode Fayemi further explained that Fayose/Bisi Kolawole are in the control tower of the PDP party structures, recognized by the PDP National headquarters and affirmed by the Judiciary.

He however said a number of the delegates installed by Fayose and presently in his camp will definitely betray him, but the combined strength of the betrayals will not be strong enough to significantly alter the equation against the Fayose.
The APC spokesman said Ekiti PDP and its candidate cannot withstand Ekiti APC in the gubernatorial elections of 2022 because of the excellent performance of the APC led administration in Ekiti State under Dr Kayode Fayemi.
He also said a more formidable and well structured Ekiti APC, the availability of the Federal Patronages (what some people called Federal might) in favour of APC and against the PDP, Power of incumbency of a sitting APC Government in all the 177 wards, 16 Local Governments and State, sufficient funds to mobilize the electorates among others.

Ekiti 2022 from the prism of the opposition Party, PDP
– *Only three aspirants are the contenders while others are pretenders*
By *Karounwi Oladapo*.
May 2, 2021.
From a fleet of about 30 branded Campaign cars and a luxurious bus, all branded with the pictures of Bisi Kolawole for Governor, that I saw on video just now, it is pretty clear that Fayose is contesting 2022 Gubernatorial elections through Bisi Kolawole.
The second aspirant, even though she hasn’t made his Gubernatorial aspiration public, is Senator Biodun Olujimi.
While the third one is Engr. Segun Oni.
Outside of the three, other PDP aspirants are contesting only on social media; they really don’t have what it takes to go into the battle. If I were in their shoes, I will apply wisdom and negotiate with any of the three contenders.

As of today, May 2, 2021, if PDP Primary election is to be conducted, Fayose/Bisi Kolawole will beat Senator Biodun Olujimi to a second position and Engr Segun Oni to a distant third position.
As Politics is dynamic and volatile, things keep changing rapidly in politics, the equation may change in the days ahead, provided the Fayoses sleep behind the wheel! Should that happens, Olujimi may spring a surprise!
My postulations are based on the following premise.
*Fayose/Bisi Kolawole*
1. Fayose/Bisi Kolawole are in the control tower of the PDP party structures, recognized by the PDP National headquarters and affirmed by the Judiciary.
However, a number of the delegates installed by Fayose and presently in his camp will definitely betray Fayose but the combined strength of the betrayals will not be strong enough to significantly alter the equation against the Fayoses.
2. Fayose/Bisi Kolawole has the capacity to raise the requisite funds to mobilize, compromise and buy the delegates.
*Biodun Olujimi*
1. She is in control of a section of the recognized PDP structures. Besides, she is in absolute control of the statutory delegates.
2. She has capacity to raise sufficient funds for the battle; from Governor Seyi Makinde and other PDP Governors, from her National Assembly colleagues, from the PDP presidential aspirants, particularly Atiku Abubakar.
*Segun Oni*
1.Segun Oni is not in control of the party structures but he will make a little gain from those who are set to betray Fayose. This is because these set of delegates benefited from Segun Oni’s administration when he was Governor.
2. Segun Oni has less capacity to raise sufficient money for the battle. He will enjoy the support of former President Olusegun Obasanjo but I don’t know how this will translate into huge money require for the contest. It’s not on record that Obasanjo cannot gamble with his money!
Some will say what if Biodun Olujimi doesn’t contest and she decides to join forces with Segun Oni to humiliate Fayose and retrieve Ekiti PDP from Fayose’s control? This is a possibility. Should that happens, then it will be a very tough battle between Bisi Kolawole and Segun Oni and the victory can go either way!

I will still come back to this as events unfold!
Whoever wins the PDP primaries will only succeed in having the Ekiti PDP structures for keep. The person will become the commander and controller of Ekiti PDP. The person will be using the PDP structures to negotiate for survival and relevance within the PDP hierarchy and remain as Opposition leader in Ekiti State. This is because Ekiti PDP and its candidate can not withstand Ekiti APC in the Gubernatorial elections of 2022 for a number of reasons I had highlighted in my previous articles; record of excellent performance of the APC led administration in Ekiti State under Dr Kayode Fayemi, a more formidable and well structured Ekiti APC, the availability of the Federal Patronages ( what some people called Federal might) in favour of APC and against the PDP, Power of incumbency of a sitting APC Government in all the 177 wards, 16 Local Governments and State, sufficient funds to mobilize the electorates among others!.
