PHOTOS: Lagos governor Sanwo-Olu joins #EndSARS protests
Sanwo-Olu is calling for wider reforms of the Nigeria police following the disbandment of the infamous Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) after the outcry by Nigerian youths.
The Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday, has joined #EndSARS protests on the street of Lagos matching against the brutality of the unit of the police.
He was at the venue of one of the #EndSARS protests.
Sanwo-Olu is calling for wider reforms of the Nigeria police following the disbandment of the infamous Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) after the outcry by Nigerian youths.
Sanwo-Olu was seen among protesters on the street of Lagos matching against the brutality of the unit of the police.
Nigerians across states have been protesting for days against the actions of SARS which has led to the death of some citizens.
Tweeting on his official page on Twitter, Sanwo-Olu stated that the safety of everyone involved in peaceful protests across Lagos is important and he will be communicating with Lagos Commissioner of Police to see to that.
He tweets:
“I joined the #ENDSARS protesters in Alausa and received a letter of their demands and once again I reiterated my support. I am now on my way to Abuja to meet with H.E Pres. @MBuhari
and the goal of the conversation is clear.
“Tangible next steps to #EndPoliceBrutality.”
