Three Police officers, six others arrested for murder of vigilante in Ekiti
Nine suspects including three police officers have been arrested on Friday, January 10, by the Ekiti State Anti Robbery Squad in connection with the killing of a vigilante in Ikere Ekiti, Mr. SO Alabi.
Mr. SO Alabi was shot dead late last year at a quarry site in Ikere – Ekiti where he and other three officers were assigned to provide security for some electronic cables in the site.
One police officer popularly known as Ojo Omoga has been arrested on Friday and the remaining two officers named withheld at large.
The police had immediately after the incident apprehended three suspected cultists linked to the killing and have been remanded in prison custody by court.
However, in the course of investigation the police was able to find out the true killers of the vigilante among whom is a well known police officer serving in Ikere Division known as Ojo Omoga and two officers named withheld.
It was gathered that the police officers was the one who provided the gun which was used during the operation and was said to be part of the operation that night when the vigilante was killed.
Speaking in a telephone interview, the commander of Vigilante Group in Ekiti State, Mr Akin Olounloni confirmed the arrest and said the suspects have confessed to committing the crime.
Akin Olounloni said the suspects were picked up through a joint efforts of the Vigilante and Police.
