What IPOB said about Nnamdi Kanu’s return to Nigeria for mother’s burial

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Friday, declared that its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, does not need any form of permission from the ‘cabal’ in Aso Rock to return to Nigeria.

This was contained in a statement by Emma Powerful, the IPOB’s Media and Publicity Director.

Emma Powerful said that an unnamed ‘cabal’ at the Presidency was surprised by the recent diplomatic feats Kanu had allegedly recorded.

He said, “Recent decisive diplomatic advances recorded by our leader have taken them by surprise.

“Our leader never asked anybody to campaign for his return to bury his mother.

“Why these busy-bodies would be poking their noses into a matter that does not concern him is beyond understanding.

“Nnamdi Kanu does not need to consult anybody to return here. Our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is yet to make his intentions public regarding his proposed visit.

“If and when that happens, they should be rest assured that no permission would be sought from the Aso Rock cabal that rule Nigeria or anybody else for that matter.”

Meanwhile, Newsflash247 had earlier reported that the mother of the leader of Indigenous People Of Biafra, Ugoeze Sally Nmeme Kanu has died in Germany.

IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu who in a video message announced the passing of his dear mother, Ugoeze Sally Meme Kanu, he talked about her generosity, what led to her death and the best way to honour her.

Kanu, who announced this on Sunday morning, said his mother died on 30th August in Germany after doctors were unable to cure her of a protracted illness.

The IPOB leader accused the federal government of contributing to the death of his mother, with the incident of September 2017, where soldiers had allegedly invaded his house in Umuahia, Abia State.

He said, “Watching her children being hunted and killed by the federal government was the cause of her illness, and today we have lost her.

“I had said before that I was ready to sacrifice anything for Biafra, and today I have sacrificed my mum. We will not be dettered, we shall continue to fight for the freedom of our people.”

Kanu said his mum died long before his visit to the UN, and several other engagement he has had, which was a show that the death has not dampened his spirit.

The freedom fighter, however, failed to say why the announcement was coming two months after the death, nor did he reveal any burial arrangement for his mother.

Fellow Biafrans, lovers of freedom all over the world. I bring you the particularly sad news on this very day about the passing of my mother, Ugoeze Sally Nnenne Okwu-Kanu who died on the 30th of August this year in Germany.

Anybody who met my mother or had the unique privilege of making her acquaintance will testify to her generosity but above all, her devotion and love for Biafra. Not just for Biafra as a project but for all those who are within it. She saw IPOB as her family and did everything that she could to ensure that this very struggle is what it is today.

And as we all know the events of the 14th of September 2017 contributed immensely to her ill-health which unfortunately the doctors were not able to do anything about.

A mother as caring and compassionate as she is, watching and seeing how children being killed – twenty-eight (28) of them in total – and having to see their dead bodies traumatized her to the extent that she took ill of which she never recovered.
