2019 Elections: PDP, APC trade blame over the destruction of campaign billboards in Ekiti
The Ekiti State chapters of the All Progressives Congress and that of the Peoples Democratic Party have pointed accusing finger at each other over the destruction of campaign billboards in the state.
The PDP on Tuesday alleged that the ruling APC was sponsoring thugs to destroy the campaign billboards of its candidates, an allegation the APC swiftly denied.
The PDP made the allegation at a news conference in Ado-Ekiti addressed by its Ekiti Central Senatorial District candidate, Mr Obafemi Adewale.
He alleged that some hoodlums loyal to the APC on Monday removed the party’s campaign materials.

Adewale, a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ekiti State, described the destruction of campaign materials as a rude shock to his party and an unwholesome development.
“We found out that only the materials for me and other candidates of the PDP were so vandalised by these hoodlums
“We also observed that none of the materials of the APC were vandalised and this unequivocally establishes the fact that it was done by either members of APC or criminals sympathetic to APC,’’ he said.
The APC, however, responded that certain aggrieved members of the PDP were behind the incident.
The Director of the Buhari/Osinbajo Campaign Council in Ekiti, Chief Tai Oguntayo, dismissed PDP’s allegations. He said, the allegations were ridiculous and baseless.
He said it was a well-known fact that the PDP in the state was already divided with aggrieved members capable of doing anything, including the destruction of campaign billboards, to register their protest.
