2019: Osoba, Amosun Absent As Ogun APC Makes U-turn On Consensus
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State on Thursday made a U-turn on its earlier consensus arrangement and resolved to adopt indirect primaries in selecting the party’s candidates for 2019 general elections.
The decision was taken barely 14 days after the party stakeholders agreed to go for direct primaries in the event that consensus option fails.
A meeting held at the MTR Hall, Abeokuta, which was presided over by the state APC chairman, Chief Derin Adebiyi, said the latest decision was to forestall the imminent danger of the direct primaries.
Adebiyi added that the lack of updated membership register had made it difficult for the party to proceed with the direct primary mode of elections.
However, Governor Ibikunle Amosun, former governor, Chief Olusegun Osoba, and some prominent serving and former lawmakers were absent at the closed-door meeting.
