7-Month-Old Baby Found Alive on Dead Mother’s Back After Bandits’ Attack

A seven-month-old baby boy, Habibu, has miraculously survived a bandits’ attack that claimed the life of his mother and five others on the Pandogari-Allawa road in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

The baby was found sleeping on his mother’s back 24 hours after she was shot dead by the bandits who blocked the road a day to Sallah.

The baby’s mother, Hauwa Aliyu, was traveling home for the Eid-el-Kabir holiday with her son and another woman when they were attacked by bandits.

The bandits shot and killed both women, but the baby miraculously survived.

The baby was found by vigilantes the following day, sleeping on his mother’s back. He was unharmed and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The President of Lakpma Youth Assembly, Jibril Allawa, confirmed the incident, said Hauwa Aliyu, an SS 2 student of the Maryam Babangida Girls’ Science College, Minna, who was travelling home for the Sallah celebration. Her family had advised her to stay back in school, but she insisted on coming home.

He said vigilantes who went to evacuate the remains of the victims were shocked to find the baby alive on his dead mother’s back.

“Miraculously, the baby was one of the survivors of the attack in which six people were killed. Vigilantes who went the following day to evacuate the remains of the victims found the baby sleeping on his dead mother’s back.”

He also said that another survivor, Abubakar Ismail, a 16-year-old boy, managed to run some distance after he sustained gunshot injuries on his chest. He said he was rescued and taken to a hospital for treatment.

He lamented the spate of banditry and insecurity in the area and called on the government to intervene and protect the lives and properties of the people.

The attack is a reminder of the ongoing violence in Niger State, where bandits have been terrorizing the population for years. This latest attack is particularly tragic, as it claimed the lives of two innocent women and a baby.

The baby’s survival is a miracle, and it is a reminder of the resilience of the human spirit. He is a symbol of hope for the future, and his story will hopefully inspire others to never give up hope, even in the face of tragedy.
