A 45-year-old councillor in Bariga Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos state, Solomon Adewale Awokoya aka Ogbogbon, has died. Awokoya, who was representing Ward ‘C’ in the Bariga LCDA Legislative House, in the early hours of Sunday, April 8th which, sadly, was his birthday.
According to his friends, the deceased had attempted to be a councillor and lost out thrice before he got the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket on his fourth trial and won the election.
He had already purchased some materials he was to distribute to his ward members during his birthday celebration.
Reacting to the news of his demise, a member of the House of Representatives Wole Diya said “Tears rolls down my eyes when I heard about the death of Awokoya. He was a humble, loyal and ideological councillor. The people of Bariga will continue to remember you for the good work you have done in moving the council further.”
Awokoya is survived by his mother, wife and children.
