2023: Gov Tambuwal declares for president
Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has declared his intention to run for president in 2023.
Tambuwal made the declaration on Monday in Sokoto, saying he is best suited for the job.
Tambuwal, who was Nigeria’s House Speaker between 2011 and 2015, contested for the Peoples Democratic Party ticket in 2018 but lost at the October primaries that year.
He said he will be running on the platform of the PDP, the country’s main opposition.
Tambuwal has now become the latest contender in the race to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 — following the former National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Ebonyi Governor Dave Umahi, Senate Chip Whip Orji Kalu and former Imo Governor Rochas Okorocha declared a similar interest.

The governor is the latest to announce the intention to seek office under the main opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Others who have already signified their interest in the party are former Senate Presidents, Ayim Pius Ayim and Bukola Saraki; publisher, Dele Momodu and a renowned pharmacist, Sam Ohuanbunwa.
