Barring any last minute hitch, the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello may on Sunday, 11th March dissolve his cabinet as part of his plans to strengthen his second term ambition come 2019.
The Governor was expected to hold a meeting with all his political appointees today (Saturday) but fear seems to have led to the postponement of the meeting till tomorrow.
The meeting which was to hold today is now slated for 6:00 pm Sunday as the governor is still held up in Abuja.
It was gathered from a reliable source from the Kogi State Government House that, the dissolution may affect over 70 percent of local government administrators, commissioners, who according to their principal have underperformed.
The source further revealed that all arrangements may have been concluded for the dissolution and sack of the council administrators if not for the postponement.
It would be recalled that the state Executive Council had served for over two years. The dissolution, our source explained would enable the composition of a cabinet, an action the governor believed would assist him greatly as the state approaches the election year.
There are strong indications that Gov Bello may run a second term of another four years, thus the need to replace those in his cabinet who have not added political value.
The venue for today’s meeting, Lugard House, was filled to the brim until words came that the meeting had been postponed, as the governor was still in Abuja.
While at the venue, visible fear had enveloped most cabinet members, while the administrators were also on the edge as no one could predict the next move of the governor.
The administrators have spent over two years also in their various capacities, with many of them still interested in another two-year term.
